Another Ride Around the Sun
This year was full of life, old and new. Our’s starts with chasing the sun by packing the Sprinter for the trek south and it unfolds from there…
Baja was full of wonderful surprises, from meeting up with old friends to hanging out in some of our favorite old haunts. We shook things up with a month on mainland Mexico. So civilized.
The history, art and culture in Mexico City could easily distract you for a lifetime. Our last time in Oaxaca was in 1982 and we were amazed at the transformation to an international destination.
Ultimately, getting back to the beach and van life was a welcomed relief. We did get an important call in March from Mitchell and Danielle informing us that we’d be grandparents in December, setting off some celebrating, Baja style.
We had twenty days on our return home to repack and head to the Continent. From island time in Greece to hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain with stops in France, Portugal and Denmark, it was incredibly relaxed for a whirlwind.
We got to hang out with Mitchell, who was in Paris for work. He joined us in Cassis in the south of France for boating and beach time.
It wouldn’t be summer without going to a Lord Huron concert. We headed to the Bay area for an impressive day of music on Mt. Tam with a view of the bay that was hypnotic. Join us there in 2024.
We cashed in on a promise to head back to Canada to see our Baja pals. What a treat with excursions to their lake cabin, horseback riding, hanging around the farm, and going into Vancouver, BC for some city time.
We somehow had time for major projects at the UplandRanch and celebrated with a gorgeous evening party on our new back deck. Great food and friends with a bit of heat lightning for ambience filling out the night. Kate, Danielle and Mitch then dashed off to a West Virginia wedding and a family reunion.
The Oregon Coast was a major magnet for us this year. Between Sprinter trips, renting houses and some great weather, it was a stunner of a beach season.
With the holidays approaching, we skipped off to Kauai for the last dose of vitamin D before settling into an Oregon winter...
Mitchell and Danielle prepped for the new addition. He arrived on Dec 13 during an underwater birth at 8lbs/2ozs and was christened Archer George Rymeski. Kate and I delighted in the best Xmas gift of all time! Everything was just a little brighter this holiday season. He’s perfect…
With this year in the rearview, we have so much to be thankful for and to look forward to. Let’s hope our wanderings find us in your gravitational pull in the new year, as our blue planet takes another lap around a bright and shining star...
